About the Deities

In the main shrine within the temple, you will see the beautiful Deities of Radha-Krishna named Sri Sri Radha-Madhava (Krishna, the Lover of Radha).

Originally installed in ISKCON Belfast, Northern Ireland, Radha Madhava arrived in Leicester in 2016 to be worshipped by the community.

A special welcoming ceremony took place (Sunday 21st August) to receive Radha Madhava Who had been worshipped daily in Belfast for the last 35 years.

The community offered an elaborate bathing ceremony (abhishek) to the 2.5 feet tall Deities to welcome Them to Their new home in the heart of Leicester City Centre.

Devotees travelled from all over the country to witness the special event, and celebrated Radha Madhava’s arrival with a yagya ceremony, and a full day of kirtana.

Pragosa Dasa, and Shaunaka Rishi Dasa, Director of the Oxford Centre for Hindu Studies shared memories of Sri Sri Radha Madhava.
Praghosa Dasa, GBC for the UK said: “Having known Radha Madhava since 1983, I cannot remember a more auspicious and blissful event in Their association than today in Leicester”

City Mayor Sir Peter Soulsby and Deputy Mayors Cllr Manjula Sood and Cllr Piara Singh Clair also attended the event, and shared their appreciation for ISKCON on its 50th anniversary.

In an exchange of love, ISKCON Leicester has gifted their Panca Tattva Deities to ISKCON Belfast, in a solid expression of gratitude.
